Necessity

why we serve

Each community we focus our efforts toward have members whose lives can be revolutionized through partnership with a service K9. However, the challenges present in K9 service are often accompanied by the financial impossibility of simply purchasing a K9 with predictable and stable breeding, let alone specialized training.

We aim to fill that gap by helping to fundraise completely, or in partnership, to overcome the financial obstacles. We set the bar a step above by working alongside our recipients to integrate handler skill building, cooperative work with other recipients and K9s, and accountability.

Ultimately, T6 extends a hand up, not a hand out.

IMPACT

The Difference We Make

When a person with the need of a service K9 is properly bonded and prepared for the partnership and lifestyle, the enhanced quality of life cannot be quantified.

A few examples we have seen first hand:

Veterans experiencing limited mobility and participations due to psychological stress have regained independence and confidence through mobility-enhancing support from trained service K9s. These service animals help them move more freely in daily environments and engage more fully in life.

Families caring for children with special needs who previously struggled to participate in typical community activities have been able to expand where and when they go because service K9s provide regulation, grounding, and behavioral support that makes outings more manageable and inclusive.
